"Long Beach is indeed a special place, and there have been many funky things going on here over the years, and there had yet to be a 100% funk festival in the LBC, until WE put on the first LB Funk Fest in the summer of 2009. The Long Beach Funk Fest has manifested to bring an event of uncut funk magnitude to Long Beach.

This is not a jazz funk fest. This is not a hip hop funk fest. This is not an old skool show. It’s not a rock festival with a few funky bands. This is all funk and nuttin but the funk. This is a festival to bring together funk fans old and new, to show where funk came from and where it’s going.

Our goal is to bring the funk music community together (musicians and fans) and invoke the spirit of the great 70′s funk fests, and to help nurture and develop funk’s acceptance and acknowledgment as a complete North American musical genre. Much in the way jazz and blues are considered “American art forms”, funk is American music too, our music, and has influenced countless other genres, musicians, and people around the world…

The Long Beach Funk Fest is a green-driven festival, involving green sponsors and educating in ways to live with less impact on our environment. We strive to have the bulk of vendors and partners come from green companies and organizations. The Long Beach Funk Fest also helps to raise funds towards music education in Long Beach. This is a community-based event, involving the community and giving back to the community.

Each year the artist lineup is hand picked to reflect the mission of the LBFF. We also feature many prominent LA area dj’s spinning funk all day/night long between bands and at the dj tent. Visual art is also heavily featured, including many live paintings taking place throughout the festival site. Be on the lookout for possible pre/after parties for the funk fest. We know like the last two years, many funk fans will be coming from out of town and even from other countries, so we want them to have options to make it a full weekend. There are many hotel options within walking distance in the downtown area. There are also several amazing restaurants, shops, and public attractions all within walking distance of the festival site. Long Beach is an amazing place to visit with so much stuff to do."

“4TH ANNUAL NFIA INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS TOUR USA-MEX ART EXHIBITION” February 11th, 2012 - April 1st, 2012

Presented by: ART, MUSIC & CULTURE (AMC) AND NATIONAL FOUNDATION OF INDEPENDENT ARTISTS (NFIA)

ART, MUSIC & CULTURE (AMC) is based out of Long Beach and greater Los Angeles area. However, its aims are to reach artists and communities locally and worldwide. AMC’s intended to serve as an organizational tool and information center for art exhibitions, music shows and cultural events. AMC’s shows combine live music and art shows. Art-shows often come in the form of alternative galleries. AMC uses many available venues, be it gallery, studio, open space, bars, nightclubs, warehouses, or empty retail stores. In this sense, AMC is in constant motion bringing spaces to life through collaborative efforts and perhaps transforming such spaces and in the process bringing the cultural arts to diverse audiences.

The NATIONAL FOUNDATION of INDEPENDENT ARTISTS (NFIA) is bi-national non-profit organization with an international web of members that was created to establish and maintain a network of resources for artists by artists. NFIA provides a platform in which artists come together freely to exchange ideas on technique, subject matter, and sales initiatives.

ARTISTS TOUR & IMAGINATION PROJECT (BI-NATIONAL EXHIBITION). The main objective of IMAGINATION is to bring ideas as cultural and artistic resources closer to the people, by making an artist interaction image-based and context-aware. Our aim is to enable image-based navigation for artistic resources. Our vision is a system where people receive meaningful contextual information about images and image parts, which makes images easier to understand.
